USEA conducts training a needs assessment survey which informs the nature of skills required by its members every year.
Training activities are then prepared and these mainly focus on improving the technical capacity of solar company employees,
who are usually technicians, sales and marketing personnel.
Past trainings have been conducted with support from development partners like UNCDF, USAID Power Africa and the World Bank.
USEA engages in advocacy and lobbying on behalf of its members to facilitate business growth,
improve policy regulation and the solar business environment. For instance,
the association successfully lobbied and advocated for a tax waiver on imports and reduction in mobile money tax.
USEA has also been at the forefront of developing the quality framework/standards for component-based imports /solar products with Uganda National Bureau of Standards
Support training capacity building and certification activities in the renewable energy field and accreditation of renewable energy
product and service providers.

Collecting Information on Renewable Energy
Undertake research for purposes of informing Advocacy and lobbying activities and to collect information on renewable energy products and markets.
Access to Finacial Loans and Security
Identify opportunities for members to obtain financing loans and security bids for large projects.
Effective measures to Improve Business Environment
Undertake lobbying and Advocacy in order to improve the business environment of the sector
Conduct Research & Development
Conduct research,development and technology transfer to the country on renewable energy application
